Skyline Tuning Parts

This article investigates aspects in respect of Engine Tuning for the Skyline R32.

The information contained within this article is given in an advisory capacity only and you should always look for professional advice when thinking about fine-tuning the R32 Engine.

Prior to even considering modification of your R32 you must understand what specific engine model your Skyline has. I hope I’m not coming across as condescending but attempting to work on a high precision engine like the Skyline R32 is similar to eating chewing gum with the wrapper still on it……………….. you simply don’t do it!!

Under the Bonnet of the R32

Lift the infamous hood of the Skyline R32 and you’re met with a spectacle of pure magic and an engineering miracle. Lift the hood amongst a perceptive gang and you’ll hear the gasps and calls of admiration from far, far away. Exactly what is it about the R32 engine that gets us going?

This variety of skyline comes with equipped with a top of the range 157kw RB20DET twin cam 24 valve head engine, dressed up with a intercooled turbo charger. Think it stops there? This is no run of the mill turbo charger as this little baby is a ball bearing mechanism attached with a ceramic custom built turbine wheel that was built to develop response time.

Maybe the RB20 is missing some low end torque but put it against to the later models such as the RB25, this means nothing about the acceleration as the weight of this Skyline spec is at only 1245kg and is is as good as more up to date of Skyline cars.

How to begin tuning your R32 Skyline car

Get a new inter cooler

As always with regular kit the R32 comes with a inferior intercooler which does have serious implications in respect of the performance and overheating. Getting an upgrade for your intercooler should not be as frightening as you might first believe and there are more than one great value for money intercoolers out there in the mainstream that will serve the right purpose.

This article is just the first in a series that will further explore Skyline Tuning Parts!

What a Skyline Dream!!
